From the dance halls of the 1950s to the pub floors of North Queensland, 45RPM was born from one simple idea , Rock ’N’ Roll should feel the way it did when it first exploded onto the scene.

In a world of playlists and background music, we wanted to bring back the energy, the movement, the sweat on the dance floor, and the joy of people hand-in-hand spinning under stage lights.

We’re proud to be known as Townsville’s authentic 50s & 60s Rock ’N’ Roll band, not just playing the songs, but recreating the experience.

🎶 Where It Started

In our very first year together, we played more than 50 gigs. What we discovered in that whirlwind year wasn’t just how much we loved performing the songs, it was how much people missed this music being played the way it was meant to be played.

When you see a dance floor packed with couples jiving, twisting, laughing and singing along, it’s magic. Even those standing at the bar can’t help but smile.

That’s when we knew: this wasn’t nostalgia. This was timeless.

🎷 The Sound of an Era

Rock ’N’ Roll in the 50s and 60s wasn’t polished pop, it was raw, rhythm-driven, rebellious and full of life. It came from the 45rpm vinyl singles that spun on jukeboxes across the world, songs by legends who shaped modern music.

Artists like Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, The Coasters, Bobby Darin, Del Shannon, Bobby Lewis, Bobby Day: the list goes on, they defined a generation. The slap of the double bass, the snap of the snare, honking sax lines, driving rhythm guitar, that sound changed everything.

That’s the sound we chase.

We regularly perform as a 5-piece with powerhouse vocalist Michelle Plozza, adding even more depth and dynamic energy to our show.

All of us are North Queensland born and bred, each bringing more than 20 years of live performance experience. Between us, we’ve clocked up over 600 live shows, from major venues like The Ville to rockabilly festivals, pubs, clubs, weddings and private events across Queensland and New South Wales.

We dress the part in period style, matching uniforms. We play the songs that deserve to be remembered, a treasure trove of hits (and hidden gems) that don’t get the airplay they once did. Our setlists are carefully crafted to build momentum, spark nostalgia and most importantly, fill a dance floor.

Our sound system is professional and powerful, ensuring every note, from the solid bass thump to the saxophone wail, lands exactly as it should.

Whether it’s a large-scale event or a backyard birthday party, we bring the same energy. Because making music isn’t about going through the motions, it’s about creating memories.
